Lighting
A fitting doesn’t have to be big and bold to add wow-factor to a scheme. Just by being creative with shape, proportion, shadows, volume and materials you can instantly transform your room.
I always say to think of the two personalities a light fitting has – lit and unlit. A piece should be beautiful in both settings but it may really come to life at night for instance so consider how you will see it most often.
The shape and material are most important for pendants and table lamps in living areas and kitchens that we see a lot during the day. Look for drama.
For bedrooms and dining tables I love to look for shadows and soft glows picking up the colour and textures of the fitting.
