These shades are made from real walnut veneer with a natural silk-hemp mix fabric backing and perspex diffuser.

On the majority of lampshades made from natural materials, it is an unavoidable inconvenience that they must have a seam, which is usually placed towards the back in order that it can be ignored.

The maker, Roland Smith, made this lamp to challenge that orthodoxy. He knew he could not avoid having a seam, so he came up with a better idea – to make a playful and appealing feature out of it.

Size shown is 30cm diameter, 15cm height.

Can also be made to order in 22cm or 42cm diameters.

The light fitting is not included but can be ordered separately.

Works just as well on a table lamp. The shade comes with a central ring for an E27 lamp holder.
